How to set it up ？


Configure the Home Router as A Server

1, Log in to the management interface of the home router (usually by entering its IP address, such as 192.168.1.1, in the browser).
2, Enable the VPN server function, select a VPN protocol (such as OpenVPN), and create a VPN user account and password.
If you need to access specific devices inside the home from the outside, set the corresponding port forwarding rules. If the home network has a dynamic IP, you can combine it with a DDNS service. Learn more  

Configure the Travel Router as A Client

After connecting the travel router to an external network (such as hotel Wi-Fi or mobile data), log in to its management interface.
In the VPN settings of the travel router, enter the public IP address (or DDNS domain name) of the home router, the VPN user account and password, as well as the VPN protocol. Learn more   

Testing and Auto Connect

Try to access the devices or services in the home network on the devices connected to the travel router. For example, access the files shared by a computer in the home network or connect to the home surveillance camera. Check if the access is normal and test the network speed and stability. After the test is successful, it will automatically connect in the future. Learn more.

Can I use the travel router with my existing home router to set up a VPN network?

Yes, you can use the travel router with your existing home router to create a VPN connection. However, your home router must support OpenVPN or WireGuard protocols to serve as a VPN server. If your existing router doesn’t support these protocols, our home router included in the bundle is ready to handle this task.

How fast is the internet when using the VPN feature?

  • Encryption protocols: WireGuard is generally faster than OpenVPN due to its modern design.
  • Internet connection: The speed of your home internet and the connection where you’re accessing it plays a key role.
